The Norfolk Autism Partnership Board (NAPB) held its latest meeting to discuss key issues, updates, and future initiatives supporting autistic individuals in Norfolk.
Key Discussions:
- Diagnosis Waiting Times:
- 1,177 adults are currently waiting for an autism assessment.
- Average monthly referrals have decreased by 25% compared to last year.
- Efforts are ongoing to improve tracking for those using the “Right to Choose” pathway.
- Oliver McGowan Training Update:
- Training for professionals on supporting autistic people is progressing well.
- The team has grown to 36 experts, including autistic trainers.
- Booking systems and governance processes are now in place.
- Autism Strategy Oversight Group Updates:
- The Year One Plan has been approved and published.
- Regular updates and tracking systems are now implemented.
- A BRAG (Blue, Red, Amber, Green) rating system will be used to track progress.
- Autism Acceptance Week 2025 (March 31 – April 6):
- This year’s theme is “Colour” to promote autism awareness and inclusion.
- Volunteers are needed for planning event
- Upcoming Events & Initiatives:
- NAPB will have a stand at the Co-Production event on 9th July 2025 at The Forum.
- A video project is in progress to highlight NAPB’s impact.
- Autism Service Norfolk is transitioning to a new provider, ABL Health. Updates to follow.
